Over 70 business, civic, and neighborhood leaders met on March 25, 2009 for a presentation and discussion on the result of the LISC/MetroEdge Albany Park and Mayfair neighborhood retail marketing analysis. MetroEdge studied the convenience trade area bordered by Foster Ave., the Chicago River, Montrose Ave., and Cicero Ave. Jake Cowan and Helen Dunlap of MetroEdge reported that the purpose of the study was to identify the retail potential our community has so LADCOR can develop strategic retail plans for Albany Park and Mayfair, as well as the surrounding area. Scott Berman, LADCOR President, reported that our trade area is holding strong and many planned developments in the area are moving forward.
LADCOR, the North River Commission, and the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce will work together to identify and implement plans to market our retail assets and attract new strong businesses to our area. Strategies for this include a Marketing Campaign, Transit Oriented Development (TOD) at Kimball and Lawrence Avenues, and partnering with the City of Chicago's Department of Tourism on neighborhood tours.
